MODULAR FIREARM FUNDAMENTALS INSTRUCTION
DenKirk Arms understands how difficult it can be for a student to set aside sufficient time to take 8 to 16 hours of Basics Of Pistol Shooting Instruction and Carry Concealed Weapons Instruction to satisfy their personal firearms training objectives and/or satisfy local jurisdiction requirements for obtaining a “Carry Concealed Weapons” permit.
With that in mind, DenKirk Arms has developed a Modular Firearm Fundamentals Instruction concept that allows Basics Of Pistol Shooting Instruction and Carry Concealed Weapons Instruction to be broken down into 3 to 4 training modules which can easily be “plugged” in at different times and/or locations to facilitate variations in a student’s schedules and/or finances.
Using the DenKirk Arms Modular Firearm Fundamentals Instruction “flow chart” above, a student with little to no pistol shooting experience, whose objective is to be permitted for a “Carry Concealed Weapons” permit could theoretically schedule the following firearm training modules, one after another to be completed “on-their-own-time-schedule”:
Module 1 – Basics Of Pistol Shooting “Online” Course eLearning training taken at the student’s own pace, on their own time schedule and either at their home or place of business, with phone consult from DenKirk Arms’ “Firearms Training Instructor”;
Module 2 – Basics Of Pistol Shooting “Blended” Instructor Led Course to validate “Module 1” learning objectives followed by “simulated fire” training in our training classroom; and
Module 3 – Carry Concealed Weapons Instruction to validate “Module 1 & 2″ learning objectives followed by instruction on California Penal Code review and use of deadly force laws governing “Concealed Carry Weapons”, taught in our training classroom followed by “live fire” qualification at The Firing Line in Clovis indoor range, resulting in a “Basic Pistol Shooting Certificate” and a “Carry Concealed Weapons” Certificate issued by DenKirk Arms to the student for application to their local jurisdiction for an initial California “Carry Concealed Weapons” permit.
Module 4 – OR, OPTIONALLY THE SAME STUDENT WITH LITTLE OR NO PISTOL SHOOTING EXPERIENCE, whose objective is to be permitted for a “Carry Concealed Weapons” permit could elect to combine “Modules 1, 2 & 3” into a single 12 to 16 hour training course spread over a two day period. While this combined training may work for some new pistol shooters, “Module 4” is an exhaustive and difficult course of training to accomplish in such a compressed time period with little or no time for the student to “practice, practice practice” the fundamentals that are being taught.
This Modular Firearm Fundamentals Instruction concept also applies for California renewal “Carry Concealed Weapons” permits. Any of the above DenKirk Arms Modules necessary to validate prior pistol shooting training could potentially be taken again to qualify the student to apply for their California renewal “Carry Concealed Weapons” permit.
